2010 Packaging Oscar for ProSelex®
Among the 11 innovations discerned in 2010, a panel of industry professionals and experts chose to award an “Oscar de l’Emballage” to ProSelex® in the “Peripheral Equipment” category for “real innovation and benefits in terms of speed, compactness and versatility as well as the ease and simplicity of format changeovers.”
ProSelex® is a servo-driven comb that moves at high speed along two axes to form batches from products that arrive continuously on a conveyor. For handling three or more different formats, the module is the obvious choice compared to turning and spacing systems using scrolls. Compact, simple and respectful of products, this patented solution has been used successfully on all types of secondary packaging: RSC, wrap around blanks or trays, regardless of the case packing system used, whether lateral or vertical.
The 2010 Packaging Oscar confirms the positive feedback received from nine companies using ProSelex® since early 2010. The solution follows in the spirit of the 3-axis ER63 Pick and Place case packing robot and the Dual Injection System (D.I.S.®), a patented, automatic reel changeover system without machine downtime, both of which were Oscar winners in 2000.
Innovation “Coup de Coeur” for the SD58 vertical case packing module
During the Emballage 2010 show in Paris, the SD58 vertical case packing module, which is the only one in Europe to integrate Fanuc's new 6-axis parallel-link robot, was awarded one of the seven “Coups de Coeur” (Jury Favorites) by the Pack Experts committee, out of 243 innovations presented at the show this year.
With two additional axes, the new robot better approximates the movements a human hand can make. Presented at the show for a first-ever stand-up pouch application, the 6-axis arm sets products upright or lays them down depending on how they are fed into the machine and how they are to be arranged in the case. It can also accommodate payloads up to 6 kg.
Successful preview for the VersaFilm® seamless shrink wrapping range
Presented in Paris as a sneak preview before its worldwide launch in 2011, Cermex’s new VersaFilm® seamless shrink wrapper family was met with excellent reviews from the professionals at the show. They were particularly impressed with the modular design of the range, which adds benefits in terms of cost and lead time to the technical qualities of the modules.
Conferences that highlight Cermex’s expertise in robotics and format changeovers
As a global expert in end-of-line packaging machinery, Cermex innovates daily in order to offer industrialists configurations that are ever-more efficient and user-friendly. Through the intermediary of SYMOP (French association for manufacturing technologies), Cermex has given a series of conferences for a broad audience of professionals about its numerous solutions related to robot integration and the simplification of format changeovers.
