THE KEY TO SUCCESS FOR CERMEX CUSTOMERS

With the expertise of both Cermex Corcelles (21) and Cermex Lisieux (14), the Cermex group is one of the leaders in the case packing, shrink wrapping and palletising industry.

I. CONTEXT
After Cermex joined the SIDEL group in 1996, CERMEX and OUEST CONDITIONNEMENT joined forces to become the "Over wrapping-Palletising" division. In 1998, OUEST CONDITIONNEMENT was integrated into CERMEX as a subsidiary and was renamed CERMEX OC. Today, the Cermex division is in charge of the end of line packaging equipment for the entire group.

II. OBJECTIVES

• The expertise of both entities in the Beverage industry is the starting point for offering a complete end of line solution (case packing/shrink-wrapping/palletisation) applicable to many other industries such as personal care, pharmaceutical products, dairy products).
• The second objective is to become the single contact for complete end of line projects by offering the largest range of machines within the packaging industry among their customers? main fields, i.e. soft drinks, wines and spirits, personal and home care, food, pharmaceutical products

• Over and above associating their sales activities and range of machines, technologies have been shared so as to develop mechanisation solutions in case packing for Cermex Corcelles and in shrink-wrapping for Cermex Lisieux as well as product collation principles.
• In merging their research and development process, a continuous motion WP60 wrap around case packer has been designed using Cermex OC?s expertise in terms of product collation (interchangeable pin gating system) and Cermex expertise in terms of complete wrap around case packing.
• The same approach was adopted for shrink wrapping shampoo bottles with a specific shape and thus instable. Cermex Corcelles proposed a picking arm designed to select the product prior to the shrink-wrapping operation which is controlled by Cermex Lisieux with an innovating technology in this type of industry.

• This approach is encouraging the Cermex group to develop further brand new solutions.
• Without any doubt, these two companies are very close, dynamic and are working to reach the same objective i.e. an overall customer satisfaction by understanding needs and providing customer with the appropriate equipment and services.
• As proof, Packaging oscars have been awarded to Cermex "Case Packing and palletizing BUs" for its ER63 (3 axis) robot case packer and to Cermex "Shrink-wrapping BU" for its DIS® automatic changeover device for film reels. The ER63 Pick & Place case packer preserves the product quality and aspect at a speed of 330 bottles/min thanks to smooth movements carried out by its 3rd axis (i.e. tracking movement). The patented DIS device, adaptable on high speed shrink wrappers without sealing bars, enables automatic reel changeover (i.e. no operator is needed for this operation) without stopping the machine.
